● CRAWLER IDENTITY · VERIFICATION

Some bots pretend to be Google. We check them.

A malicious bot can put Googlebot in its name and hope your website trusts it. BotExorcist checks more than the name before deciding whether it deserves access.

01 / FIREWALL

A name badge is easy to fake.

A bad bot can tell your server “I am Google” just by changing its name. That can help it slip past weak security rules while it pokes around your site. BotExorcist checks where the visitor really comes from before trusting that claim.

BOTEXORCIST / ACCESS & CRAWLER POLICY

“Googlebot” in a user-agent is not proof.

STEP 01

Agent claim / untrusted until verified

STEP 02

Network context / inspect

STEP 03

Verified crawler / preserve access

OBSERVE → INVESTIGATE → CHOOSE A RESPONSEILLUSTRATIVE • NOT LIVE TELEMETRY
Conceptual security workflow, not a live product screenshot.
02 / FIREWALL

Watch what the supposed crawler is requesting.

A real search crawler normally needs your actual website pages. A pretender might keep knocking on admin doors and asking for addresses that do not exist. We log those requests, compare the pattern and can block the impostor instead of letting it use your server all day.

03 / FIREWALL

Real Google crawlers must get through.

If you block real Googlebot, Google may struggle to discover your new pages. Our setup checks protect verified Google and Bing traffic while suspicious lookalikes are dealt with separately.
